Dr. Hernandez interviews Allan Padilla, an application developer for the County of Los Angeles, about his journey as a first generation college student and professional. Allan’s parents instilled a strong work ethic in him and helped shaped the way he perceives work and success. Allan considered a future in the medical field but went on to major in Business Administration at Cal-State Los Angeles in hopes of helping grow his family's property management business. After being released from his self-imposed obligation to help the family business, Allan doubted his future in business and did not complete his degree. He now has a successful career but has faced some barriers to advancement as a result of not having completed his degree. Join us as he reflects on his First Gen Journey.
